How to play

  1. Look at the ink

A 10-question round is ready as soon as the game opens. Read the prompt and look at the ink color used for the word.

  2. Choose the color

Choose the button that names the ink color, not the word's text.

  3. Complete ten rounds

Answer all 10 rounds to see your result.

Inside the game

What is Color Word?

This Stroop-style Color Word game uses familiar color names with a different ink color on every question. The rule stays the same for all 10 questions: select the visible ink color, not the color named by the word. It is a short attention game, not a diagnostic test.

How your score works

Your score is the number of correct ink-color choices out of 10. It is a result for this set of questions only.

More about your scores →

Example: separate text from ink

If the word reads BLUE but the letters are orange, choose Orange. The written word is deliberately different from the ink color, so it is not the answer.

Playing tips

  1. Pause on the ink, not the label

Let the word register, then deliberately shift to the colour of the letters before reading the answer buttons. This keeps the fixed rule in view on every question.

  2. Name the colour once before selecting

Silently say the visible ink colour, then select the matching button. Use the same two-step routine for all 10 questions instead of changing pace after a correct answer.

  3. Look at the ink

Briefly look at the letters, then move your attention to the ink itself.

  4. Name the color silently

Say the color name in your head before choosing a button.

  5. Give conflicting words a moment

Take a fraction longer on conflicting words; a correct answer is more useful than a quick guess.
