Inside the game

What is Reaction Time?

Reaction Time is a five-trial visual response game. Each trial starts after a variable delay so the signal cannot be timed in advance. An early tap is rejected and lets you retry that trial; only valid responses after the green cue are recorded.

How your score works

Your result is the mean reaction time in milliseconds across five valid trials. Lower is faster for this game. An early click is rejected and does not count as a valid trial.

More about your scores →

Example: one valid trial

After you start a trial, the panel first asks you to wait. When it turns green and reads “Tap now!”, one tap records that trial. After a valid reaction, tap the panel again when ready to begin the next trial.

Playing tips

  1. Set your hand before the delay

Keep one finger or pointer near the response panel while it is waiting. This prepares the same input for every trial without trying to guess when green will appear.

  2. Treat each wait as new

The delay changes from trial to trial. Return your attention to the panel after every recorded reaction instead of timing the gap from the previous one.

  3. Get your finger ready

Rest one finger near the large response area before each trial.

  4. Wait for the visual cue

Watch the screen rather than trying to predict the random delay.

  5. Reset after an early tap

If you react early, retry that trial and wait for the actual cue on every trial.

Results describe this game session. They are not IQ scores, diagnoses or clinical assessments.

The response area was selected before the cue appeared. Retry that trial and wait for the green cue; early taps do not count.

Five reactions give the game a small set of results for its mean, rather than relying on one moment.

The panel shows the recorded time. Tap it when you are ready to begin the next waiting period.

No. It restarts the current trial only; the valid reactions already recorded stay in the run.
